Patch 2.0


You've waited and it's finally here! The Devotion 2.0 demo release is now live!

This update has been many months coming and adds a *significant* number of updates and new content. The wordcount has more than doubled in this release, for starters.

Patch v.2.0

- Additions

  - WASD is now supported as movement control, and E now confirms and interacts

  - New battle music for Feelers optional miniboss

  - New battle music for Red optional miniboss

  - Shower shade and doubt sprites have been remade

  - New item, Caffeine Pills, and new status 'Stimulated' which grants immunity to sleep and a speed boost, with status icon by Penny Lapin

  - The Bargain Imp's final wisdom is no longer a useless bit

  - The Bargain Imp now offers additional power beyond Call Fire

  - Bug boss now has a unique drop, which can be traded to a certain someone or eaten

  - Choices with Bargain Imp now matter more

  - Beginning apartment sequence changed to include more exploration

  - Three new enemy types in existing maps, one in each of apartments, darkworld crossroad, and crawlspace

  - More dialogue with some imps in darkworld crossroad, particularly after gaining Sluph

  - Chastity and Doubt have new sprites and now leave corpses

  - New dialogue in Sewer gate puzzle room both before & after puzzle completion

  - You may now kiss Saffy multiple times

  - Lamp ending

  - Story progression of secret entity on Apt floor 2

  - Zone title cards

- Bug Fixes

  - Issue with images remaining onscreen after certain items are used is now fixed

  - The Autism Imp can now be killed

  - Enemies will no longer leave the wrong corpse

  - Fixed disrespect route Sluph dialogue following Restraint not changing for a few maps

  - Losing your arm is now actually permanent

  - Ava dialogue sounds no longer persist into battle

  - Blindside now deals damage of a type appropriate to your equipped weapon, previously it was always [CUTTING]

  - Total play time is now tracked correctly on saves rather than based on frame rate of monitor

  - Library books can't be climbed on anymore

  - The shark girl meat can now be eaten

  - Having a stat double buffed or double debuffed now has a unique icon, rather than removing the icon entirely

- Gameplay Changes

  - Losing enough FP has a deleterious effect on Carmine and opens up a new skill

  - Blindside costs less FP and deals more damage, particularly to sleeping foes

  - Shower chase scene is slightly easier

  - Bug boss now gives more birth at 50% HP

  - Burning status duration reduced

  - Burning status damage reduced

  - Imp Merchant has been overhauled and no longer uses credit, she trades for goods directly

  - Imps use their pee attack a little less

  - There is another Shiny Key available in the Crawlspace maze

  - Removed an advanced Trauma Dump from alley encounter

  - Carmine and Sluph have self-restorative kink traits in response to certain stimuli

  - Optional bookshelf puzzle has been made easier

  - Sharps disposal enemies' charm needle now stuns instead

  - Spiral Grubs will always waste first turn in combat, outside of the boss fight

  - Anxiety Pill now heals 150 HP on top of its other effects

  - Indolent Feast cures more HP

  - Charm now reduces the recipient's attack stat

  - Stalk now reduces the recipient's defense stat

  - Variant solutions introduced for some puzzles, they now have multiple possible solutions

  - Battle messages are slightly slower

  - Binding Grab cost increased to 25 FP

  - Being knocked out now gives 75% experience instead of none

- Tiny Edits

  - Dialogue fix on Dark World portal

  - Various typo fixes

  - Somno Knife animation updated

  - Sluph's ears now move as she walks in the side view

  - Small fix to Sluph's inwater sprites

  - Status pamphlet now shows icons

  - 'Burning Gaze' is now called 'Burning Glance' to reflect its item drop

  - Summon circle has a couple more options and works better

  - 'Spit Fire' skill is now 'Puke Fire'; it is now known from the start and has a small cooldown and a special effect with Carmine

  - Small edits to starting zone maps

  - Grixa is now fatter

- Known Bugs

  - Mashing buttons will cause some cutscenes to restart, causing issues. Holding mouse click to skip dialogue quicker does not do this

Wow, that's a lot of stuff! Thank you to everyone who's remained devoted through the long trek to this update, and keep your eyes out for more patches and updates coming up! I have every intention of getting this game to its eventual end, regardless of how much toxicity we meet along the way!
